2 teacher unions oppose private school tax break

Two rival teacher unions joined forces to lobby against tuition tax credits for parents who send their children to private schools, saying the tax break could be disastrous for public education.

In an unprecedented joint action, the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers passed anti-tuition tax credit resolutions during their annual meetings here and in Los Angeles, issuing a joint announcement Wednesday.
