Japan reports US-trade surplus
| Tokyo
Japan registered a large trade surplus with the United States in the first six months of 1982, government statistics showed Monday.
The Finance Ministry said Japan's exports to the US reached $18.567 billion in the six-month period, up 4.5 percent, while imports from the US fell 2.8 percent, to $12.48 billion.
The resulting $6 billion trade surplus with the US, Japan's biggest trade partner, was less than the $8 billion recorded in the same period last year.
