EC says members lost 9 million jobs since '70

The European Community countries have lost more than 5.5 million jobs in industry and 3.5 million in agriculture since 1970, the Common Market statistics office said.

In the meantime, employment in services has increased by about 9.5 million jobs, reflecting the shift from production to services common to all industrialized nations, although this growth slowed in 1981 from 1980.
