Contested earth
One says:
''I flew here. Where nothing was I built with skills from the wild grass this, my nest.''
The other says:
''I grew here. Like the grass belonging deep as the dark root does I was first.''
The grass says:
''O both of you! with your puny play.
I watch you come I watch you go: I - who stay blade beside blade in my grassy way''
and still, still cannot tell why because once so long ago two fathered sons were wrenched apart
you even now must choose to fail like exiles frozen in an antique stance
to dwell, as equal heirs, within
so fair a place!
so sunned upon.
