Conservatives attempt new Danish government

Conservative Party leader Poul Schluter agreed to try to form a new minority government - and could become Denmark's first Conservative prime minister in 81 years.

After failing to win enough support for a broad-based coalition to succed Anker Joergensen's Social Democratic administration, Mr. Schluter accepted Queen Margrethe's request to put together a new minority centrist government.
