Many US companies are top-heavy with management, a consulting firm said Monday. Some could easily eliminate 13 percent of their supervisors, SMC Hendrick Inc. said.
In a study of 140,000 managers and workers at 16 major manufacturing companies, the firm found an average of 12.9 percent of the 14,000 managers could be eliminated without affecting production or quality control.
