Afghan report: 200 killed; rebels retaliate in Kabul

Soviet-supplied Afghan government helicopters bombed and rocketed a crowded outdoor bazaar Sept. 18, killing or wounding about 200 civilians in a town near Kabul, the Afghan capital, Western diplomats said Wednesday.
Afghan rebels retaliated by attacking the Soviet Embassy with rockets and machine-gun and small-arms fire and by bombing the Radio Afghanistan station in Kabul, destroying the facility, the diplomats said.
