Judy Goldsmith, new president of the National Organization for Women, says NOW will work to defeat right-wing opponents of feminism, such as the Reagan administration and Sen. Jesse Helms (R) of North Carolina, before trying to revive the Equal Rights Amendment.
The former University of Wisconsin English professor said NOW also will strive to become one of the strongest political action committees (PAC) in the US. NOW currently has two national PACs and 81 PACs on state and local levels.
