Two big satellites ordered for home 'dish' reception
| Washington
The RCA Corporation will build two powerful satellites, costing more than $ 100 million, for Satellite Television Corporation to carry the first satellite-to-home television programs, STC announced.
STC, a subsidiary of Communications Satellite Corporation, was recently awarded the first license to offer the new service by the Federal Communications Commission. The satellites will beam programs to homes equipped with rooftop antennas shaped like dishes. The first service is scheduled to begin in the Eastern United States in 1986, STC has projected.
