Heavy turnout reported in Spanish elections

Officials reported a huge turnout Thursday for elections expected to give Spain its first Socialist government in more than 40 years.

National radio said the turnout in Madrid pointed to a lower abstention rate than the 32 percent in the last general elections in 1979.
