Syrians fire at Israeli jets; PLO readies for an attack
| Tel Aviv
Syrian forces Sunday fired two anti-aircraft missiles at Israeli planes on reconnaissance flights over Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, an Israeli army spokesman said.
The missiles missed their target and the Israeli planes returned safely to base. The spokesman said Israel regarded the attack as a serious infringement of the ceasefire, adding that the missiles were fired from just inside Syrian territory.
A radical Palestinian Liberation Organization official said Palestinian guerrillas are reinforcing their positions in north Lebanon and the Bekaa in preparation for an Israeli attack.
