Church council protests US efforts in Nicaragua

The National Council of Churches protested efforts of the US government to ''destabilize'' the government of Nicaragua, Monitor contributor Tracy Early reports.

In a resolution adopted at a meeting of the council's governing board here, delegates unanimously urged the administration to support the negotiation proposals of Mexico and Venezuela and protested any US financial backing of Nicaraguan government opponents.
