Poland's martial law may be lifted in a month

Martial law in Poland could be lifted within a month if there is no fresh public unrest.

And renewed unrest seems almost out of the question, after the completely quiet passage of the 11th month of military rule Saturday, Monitor correspondent Eric Bourne writes.

Meanwhile, the whereabouts of Lech Walesa were still unknown last weekend after the leader of the banned Solidarity trade union was released from 11 months of internment.
