Additional unemployment benefits approved by Congress boosted the nation's personal income 0.7 percent last month, the biggest increase since May, the Commerce Department said.
Personal income increased $19 billion in October to an annual rate of $2.6 trillion. An increase in unemployment benefits and cost-of-living increases in other government benefit programs accounted for most of the month-to-month change.
