China beats Japan for first time at Asian Games

China came out on top at the Asian Games, beating Japan in the medals standing for the first time since the the games were first staged here in 1951. China announced it can now ''make a significant impact at the Los Angeles Olympics.'' China makes its return to Olympic competition at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Games.
