American industrial output down again last month

US industrial production dropped 0.4 percent more in November, the government said Wednesday.

The Federal Reserve Board said the output of US factories, mines, and utilities was down 7.3 percent in November from its year-earlier level and has declined 11.9 percent since the business downturn began in July 1981. Last month's drop in the production index, which tends to move in concert with the overall economy, was the 14th sag in the 16 months of recession.
