Per capita coffee use hit 40-year low in '82

The average American drank less coffee in 1982 than at any time in the last 40 years, the government reported. An Agriculture Department report showed per capita coffee consumption fell 40 percent between 1962 and 1982 - to the lowest level since its annual survey began 40 years ago.
