82-day school strike may finally be ended

Teachers and school-board officials in California, Pa., approved a tentative contract and agreed to resume classes Monday for 1,400 students idled by a bitter 82-day strike. It was the longest public school walkout in Pennsylvania history.

The four-year agreement, already ratified by the 76 teachers, must still be approved by the school board. No details of the pact were revealed.
