The sad flower

One day there was a flower who could not stand up. She was sad because she had started to wilt. She had been stepped on many times by people and that also made her unhappy. No one wanted to take care of her. All she needed was a little watering and a chance to grow. After two gloomy days it started to rain and the people that were once outside weren't there anymore. She had a chance to get stronger and get the food she needed. When the sun came out, she was standing so tall and in full bloom. When the people did come out, no one stepped on her. She was too beautiful to be stepped on. She wasn't sad anymore.

Why is Christian Science in our name?

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Here, you’ll find award-winning journalism not driven by commercial influences – a news organization that takes seriously its mission to uplift the world by seeking solutions and finding reasons for credible hope.
