Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

The US population is now 231,534,000 - give or take a few. The government said the figure rose 2.2 percent during the two years since the last full-scale census in 1980. The South and West led the nation in population gains, with Nevada pacing the pack at a 10 percent growth rate. Michigan suffered the largest loss: 1.7 percent.
