US looking to expand food aid for needy

The White House is studying ways to distribute surplus food products to needy Americans, President Reagan said. In remarks to Agriculture Department employees , Mr. Reagan hailed an existing program that is providing surplus cheese and dairy products to thousands of poor Americans and said he had ordered Agriculture Secretary John Block to explore ways to expand the program to other commodities.
