New call for US to boost economy and education
| Washington
If the US fails to strengthen its economy and education, it will be difficult to maintain a high living standard and strong national defense. That's the verdict of a group of 16 businessmen and educators who delivered a report to the White House. They claim the US is losing its competitive edge, particularly in the high technology and services areas, where its share of exports has declined from 25 to 20 percent in the last decade. The group prepared the report for the Business-Higher Education Forum.
