Sen. John Glenn has overtaken longtime front-runner Walter Mondale in the contest for the Democratic presidential nomination, according to a Los Angeles Times poll.
The poll showed that the Ohio senator was favored by 28 percent of the registered Democrats in the latest national survey, compared with 26 per cent for former Vice-President Mondale. A Times poll earlier this month had Senator Glenn trailing by 17 percent to 34 percent.
