New ways to control pests
The Avant Gardener, a monthly newsletter on horticulture, has just put out a special edition dealing with new ways in pest control for the home garden - or even the farm, for that matter.
The integrated pest management (IPM) concept, now widely accepted and promoted by the US Department of Agriculture, emphasizes control of garden pests (readily attainable) rather than the attempted elimination (a total impossibility) of insect pests, usually with damaging side effects.
The special newsletter, loaded with helpful pest-control options, is available by sending $1.50 to Special Issue, Horticultural Data Processors, PO Box 489, New York N.Y. 10028.
