High Kenyan official resigns under cloud

One of Kenya's most influential politicians, Charles Njonjo, resigned from parliament, political sources said. The constitutional affairs minister was suspended Wednesday amid allegations he was receiving money from the US and other countries to stage a coup in Kenya.
The Kenya Times, the ruling KANU party newspaper, said Mr. Njonjo should be investigated for possible links with last summer's coup attempt in Kenya and an attempted mercenary takeover in the Seychelles.
