PLO denies Fatah faction was behind Athens killing

The Palestine Liberation Organization dismissed a claim by a faction of its Fatah guerrilla commandos that the splinter group was responsible for the killing of a prominent PLO official in Athens.

A PLO spokesman insisted the shooting of Mamoun Mreish Sughaiyer was an Israeli act. Palestinian sources in Lebanon said the victim was a close aide of the deputy commander of PLO forces, Khalil Wazir.
