Knesset OKs new choice for Israeli finance chief

Israel's Knesset (parliament) approved Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir's choice of austerity-minded economist Yigal Cohen-Orgad as finance minister at a time of deepening fiscal chaos. Although Mr. Shamir won his first test in the parliament since taking office eight days earlier, he still faces a vote of no confidence today. Mr. Cohen-Orgad is a Herut Party economist with business interests in the occupied West Bank.
