New Zealanders protest arrival of USS Phoenix

About 50 protest boats tried to prevent the USS Phoenix from entering Auckland Harbor Wednesday, with some boats ramming the nuclear-powered sub and one group throwing a fishing net over its bow.

About 2,000 people marched peacefully on shore to protest the submarine's presence in New Zealand waters for a five-day rest and recreation visit.
