Nigerian papers impatient over delays over a Cabinet
Nigeria's newspapers, which approved of the new military takeover, are becoming impatient with delays by the military leader, Maj. Gen. Muhammad Buhari , in announcing a new Cabinet. General Buhari says he won't be rushed into taking rash decisions, Monitor correspondent David Winder reports.
Announcement of the new federal executive council is imminent, however. Half the new council, which is responsible for running the country's day-to-day affairs, is expected to be civilians who have never served in government. The move to tap people without prior service is viewed as a reflection of the unpopularity of politicians with the Nigerian public. A supreme military council remains the top policy-forming body here.
