House Democrats huddle on US pullout in Lebanon
House Democrats were scheduled to discuss the presence of United States marines in Lebanon during their caucus today. A resolution may be offered calling for the early withdrawal of the Marines.
House Speaker Thomas O'Neill (D) of Massachusetts said Monday that House Democrats were ready to put pressure on President Reagan to pull the troops out of Lebanon. ''We ought to send a clear message to him that we want those boys out,'' the Speaker said. Democratic leader Robert C. Byrd, leading top Senate Democrats, urged Mr. Reagan ''in the strongest possible terms'' to take whatever steps are necessary to remove the Marines from Lebanon.
