7,000 more Jewish settlers expected in Golan Heights
Up to 7,000 new Jewish settlers will move into the Golan Heights in the next five years, almost doubling the Jewish population in the disputed area, Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir told the Knesset Wednesday.
In answer to a question posed in the Knesset, Mr. Shamir said plans had been drawn up to build five new settlements in the area and that he would do everything he could ''to carry through every item in the plan.''
