US plans to sell jets for Turkish air arm

The Pentagon announced plans Monday to sell Turkey 15 F-4E jet fighters for an estimated $70 million. The sale is part of a continuing effort to strengthen the military strength of Turkey, a NATO member country.

Congress was notified of the decision and has 15 days to lodge an objection, but none is expected because the sale is considered routine, a Pentagon spokesman said.
