Jesse Jackson announces delay of Nicaragua trip

Democratic presidential candidate Jesse Jackson announced Saturday he will not go to Nicaragua to attend a national celebration next week but still intends to visit the Marxist-led country.

''I believe that this temporary delay in visiting Nicaragua will make possible a fruitful visit in the future,'' Reverend Jackson told a news conference, following five days of indecision on whether to accept the invitation.

''I find that my present activities in pursuit of the Democratic nomination will not allow me to accept the invitation at this times."
