Fromer Argentine leader held in Falklands inquiry
A military tribunal ordered former military President Leopoldo Galtieri arrested and interned at an Army base near here Tuesday for his role in the Falkland Islands war. General Galtieri was arrested after an intensive nine-hour interrogation by the nine-member Supreme Council of the armed forces.
Galtieri, Adm. Jorge Anaya, and Air Force Brig. Gen. Basilio Lami Dozo are charged with serious leadership failures during the war, including failure to provide troops with proper equipment, training, and food and failure to coordinate strategy among the three armed forces.
