Police arrest protesters at California arms-test site

Police patrolling an arms testing site by helicopter swooped down Wednesday and arrested half a dozen demonstrators attempting to enter the remote area to protest military nuclear research. The arrests at the test site of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory were made shortly after dawn.

Thirty-seven people were arrested Tuesday at the laboratory itself in Livermore, Calif., about 20 miles to the east. The demonstrators were protesting against nuclear weapons research.
