Thousands of Spaniards protest NATO connection

Tens of thousands of people joined in disarmament demonstrations in Spanish cities Sunday, protesting the nation's membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

The Spanish news agency EFE placed the overall figure for the number of demonstrators at 100,000. The marches were part of a campaign that is scheduled to end with a demonstration in Madrid on June 3.
