Percy says Vietnamese reneging on MIA data
The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee emerged Tuesday from a closed briefing on Americans missing in action in Vietnam, saying the Vietnamese are withholding information on MIAs.
Sen. Charles H. Percy (R) of Illinois said he doubts the Vietnamese are keeping the issue on a humanitarian level, as they had pledged to do.
An American delegation went to Vietnam in February and obtained a commitment that the remains of eight Americans in the hands of the Vietnamese would be turned over to the United States in May. This has not yet been done.
