Tass fires at US testing of missile interception

The official Soviet news agency, Tass, said Tuesday the United States' successful test of a missile interception system was a further step in the militarization of outer space by the Reagan administration.

Tass's Washington correspondent said the Pentagon had admitted that tests of interceptor missiles had been going on for six years despite the fact that President Reagan announced the intention to create such a system only a year ago.

As the news of the successful US test was broken to reporters in Washington Monday, Soviet President Konstantin Chernenko called on the United States to start immediate talks on space weapons.
