D'Aubuisson denies report linking him to death plot
Salvadorean rightist leader Roberto d'Aubuisson has called a report linking him to an alleged plot to assassinate the US ambassador to El Salvador ''nothing more than garbage.''
''They haven't proved anything,'' he said as he arrived at Miami International Airport on an airline flight from Mexico on Monday night.
In a New York Times report on Saturday, Reagan administration officials said intelligence information had linked Mr. d'Aubuisson to the alleged plot against Ambassador Thomas Pickering.
''I've checked every intelligence agency in town and there is no evidence linking him to death squads,'' Sen. Jesse Helms (R) of North Carolina said Monday.
