US arms-control team see officials in Peking

An American delegation led by disarmament chief Kenneth L. Adelman met for more than four hours Thursday with Chinese Vice-Foreign Minister Han Xu and other officials to discuss arms control, the US Embassy said.

Mr. Adelman, director of the US Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, arrived Wednesday for a six-day visit. Details of the discussions were not disclosed.

The official Communist Party newspaper, the People's Daily, charged that the United States and the Soviet Union were both trying to score propaganda points without seriously wanting talks either on controlling space weapons or reducing nuclear arsenals.
