Sakharov said to be given forced medical treatment

Soviet authorities have been forcibly treating dissident physicist Andrei Sakharov for 11/2 months in a hospital in Gorky, sources told United Press International Tuesday.

The sources said Dr. Sakharov was being treated with drugs believed to have ''mind altering'' properties. A psychiatric source in Moscow said Soviet authorities hoped Sakharov would soon sign a declaration to be published in national newspapers.

Keston College, a British organization monitoring Soviet dissident activities , said Sakharov has been under the supervision of Vladimir Rozhnov, a doctor specializing in hypnotism. The group said the source for its report has been accurate in the past but that the organization was unable to confirm the latest information independently.

Gorky, where Sakharov lives, is closed to foreigners.
