Shultz holds ANZUS talks about New Zealand challenge

US Secretary of State George Shultz conferred with New Zealand and Australian officials Monday on the status of their three-way defense pact, parts of which are under challenge by New Zealand's new government.

On Sunday night, Labour Party president Jim Anderton said South Africa's diplomats in New Zealand are to be expelled by the newly elected Labour government in New Zealand. The party's policy for several years has been to close down the South African consulate on attaining power.
