Big Board exchange weighs around-the-clock trading

Because of the growing international nature of the securities business, the New York Stock Exchange says it is launching a study of a possible move to round-the-clock trading.

The American Stock Exchange also says it is ''taking a look'' at an extended trading day.

Stock trading has been conducted between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Eastern time, on the Big Board since 1974. Those hours are also followed at the American Stock Exchange and in the over-the-counter market.
