Sri Lanka bombings go on to mark '83 disturbance
Bombs exploded in Sri Lanka's northern district of Jaffna for the third successive day yesterday, as Tamils marked the anniversary of last year's ethnic violence, police said.
The main Tamil party and guerrilla organizations had called on Tamils to observe a nonviolent demonstration Wednesday and Thursday. They were commemorating the victims of violence that erupted between the majority Sinhalese and minority Tamils last year.
