Britain to sell 2 ships to Iran under 1977 accord with Shah
Britain will supply the Iranian Navy with two unarmed naval support ships that are part of a 1977 order agreed with the late Shah of Iran, the Foreign Office said Sunday.
The 2,500-ton ships, particularly suited for disaster and earthquake relief, would not have a role to play in the Iran-Iraq war, a Foreign Office spokesman said.
