Iranian hijackers get asylum; Sikh hijackers extradited
A young couple that hijacked an Iranian jetliner were granted political asylum in Iraq on Sunday. They had applied for asylum last Thursday, two days after forcing the Iranian Airbus jet to land at a southern Iraqi military air base.
Meanwhile, seven Sikhs who hijacked an Indian Airlines plane to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, a week ago were extradited to India on Sunday. This happened after the United States rejected their request for political asylum because it did not want to encourage terrorism.
