Amnesty report asks China to free political prisoners

Amnesty International, in a major new report, called on the Chinese government to free all citizens imprisoned for their beliefs, to guarantee fair trials for all political prisoners, and to abolish the death penalty.

The report cites evidence of mass executions of political prisoners held for years without trial, or convicted after summary proceedings, and of ill-treatment of prisoners.
