New anti-attack expected in Beirut, newspaper says
The Washington Post quoted intelligence sources Thursday as saying another bomb attack was expected in Beirut before the US presidential election, possibly against the United States Embassy.
The Post also reported that American officials had specific and reliable intelligence warnings before the bombing of the US Embassy annex in Beirut Sept. 20 that explosives had been brought into Lebanon with State Department personnel as the targets.
