Evidence on Ver role so far murky, Filipino indicates

The government ombudsman said Wednesday he had begun evaluating evidence against armed forces chief Fabian Ver and others implicated in the Benigno Aquino assassination, but had not decided whether to hold public pretrial hearings. Justice Bernardo Fernandez could not say how soon his office could make a ruling on whether there is is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial.

General Ver, who has gone on a leave of absence to prepare his defense, has waived his right to a preliminary investigation to speed up proceedings against him.
