Red Cross seeks $18 million in emergency aid to Ethiopia

The League of Red Cross Societies appealed Tuesday for $18 million in emergency aid for famine-stricken Ethiopia. The appeal, termed the largest request of its kind for one country, is for helping 200,000 people next year. This is more than four times the number now being reached. A senior Red Cross official said that despite widespread publicity recently given the region, incoming aid remains inadequate.
